After constantly having her friends asking her to get her dad to answer their money questions, and working in education herself, Kate realised that schools aren’t teaching young people anything about money.
With the help of her dad, Pete, who is a Charted Financial Planner, they are determined to equip all young people with all the money skills they need – and were never taught before.
Pete is a Chartered Financial Planner, who has been working in the industry since 1998. He has a wealth of knowledge and in 2010, he decided to share this knowledge with the world, posting his first YouTube video stood on the Penzance seafront and thus, MeaningfulMoney was born.
Now, MeaningfulMoney has over 145,000 subscribers and has branched out to the MeaningfulMoney Podcast, which has over 8 million downloads and he has written two books sharing his advice. Pete wanted to give his audience everything they need to know and everything they need to do to secure financial freedom and it is fair to say he has done that, and continues to do so.
Alongside that however, Pete is a husband of 28 years to Joanne, and Dad to Ellie and Kate. He is a tidy drummer and loves to play the piano too. Jo dragged him to a ballroom dance class a few years ago, and whilst he was sceptical at first, he loves it now!
Pete is a voracious reader and is the proud dog dad to Maisy, the 14 year old family Jack Russel. He is a Rush superfan, but also is not ashamed to admit he loves to listen to Taylor Swift too!
Kate is Pete’s daughter, and following in his footsteps, started her own business when she was 21 in personal styling. She also inherited her dad’s love of technology and video editing, helping to produce the MeaningfulMoney videos and podcasts, and building his social media platform.
When learning how to manage the finances of her business, Kate realised just how little we are taught at school about finance, and that very few people have the ease of just asking their financial planner dad, and so Bank of Dad was created!
Kate is a proud dog mum to her cocker spaniel, Callie, and loves taking her on long walks along the beach. She often refers to herself as an 80 year old woman in a 22 year old’s body, as she enjoys calligraphy, water colour painting and embroidery. Kate is also an avid reader, even honouring her favourite book series (Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas) with a small tattoo on her ribs! She loves running, and wants to be able to run a half marathon in the next two years.
Growing up, she spent lots of time on the stage, singing, dancing and acting, and whilst she isn’t in a theatre company any more, she can often be found belting out show tunes whilst driving in her car – unashamedly.
